At The Greenwich Studio, we believe that family photography is more than just capturing a moment – it's about creating timeless memories that you and your loved ones will cherish for years to come. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to preserve a moment in time, our family photoshoots are designed to be a fun, relaxed experience that results in beautiful, high-quality images.
If you've booked a session with us or are considering a family photoshoot, you may be wondering what the process will involve. To put your mind at ease, here’s an overview of what to expect during your session, from start to finish, so you can feel confident and excited about your upcoming experience!
1. Pre-Shoot Consultation and Preparation
The first step in ensuring a smooth and successful photoshoot is to have a pre-shoot consultation with us. During this chat, we’ll discuss the style of photos you’d like – whether that’s formal family portraits, candid moments, or something in between. We’ll also go over the details, such as the location, clothing suggestions, and any special requests you might have.
It’s also a great opportunity for us to get to know your family better, so we can capture the essence of your relationships in a way that feels natural and personal.
2. Arriving at The Studio
On the day of your photoshoot, we recommend arriving about 10–15 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, relax, and get comfortable with the space. Our studio is designed to make you feel at ease – we want you to feel right at home, whether you’re here for an hour or the whole afternoon.
We understand that family photoshoots can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, especially with young children, so we’ll make sure everyone feels comfortable and ready to go before we begin. Take a moment to look around the studio, grab a drink, and chat with our friendly team – we’re here to help!
3. The Photoshoot Begins
When it’s time for your session, we’ll start with a few warm-up shots to get everyone relaxed and in the mood. For family photos, we’ll often begin with a few group shots, followed by individual photos or smaller family groupings. We like to keep the atmosphere light and fun, so there will be plenty of opportunities for playful and candid moments.
We understand that children (and adults!) may need a little time to settle into the shoot, and that’s perfectly okay. We take a patient, flexible approach, encouraging laughter, games, and even some quiet moments, all designed to make everyone feel at ease. This is your time to enjoy each other’s company while we capture those special connections.
4. Outfits and Styling Tips
While we offer plenty of guidance on what to wear during your photoshoot, we also encourage you to bring any personal touches that might make the photos feel more meaningful to you. Simple, classic clothing tends to work best, as it helps keep the focus on the people rather than the clothes. If you have young children, feel free to bring a few outfit changes – sometimes a quick change can make a world of difference!
Our team is on hand to help with final adjustments to hair, clothing, and any little details that need attention. The aim is to make everyone look their best while keeping things relaxed.
5. Post-Shoot Relaxation and Image Review
After your session, we’ll take a little time to review some of the images we’ve taken and discuss which ones you love most. This informal “review session” is a great way for you to get an early peek at your photos and discuss any special requests you may have regarding the final selection.
6. Editing and Final Images
Once your shoot is complete and you’ve selected your favourite images, our talented photographers and editors will get to work on perfecting them. We’ll retouch the photos to enhance their quality, ensuring the colours are vibrant, the lighting is just right, and everything looks flawless. We take great pride in creating images that you’ll be proud to display in your home for years to come.
Once the editing process is finished, we’ll arrange a time for you to come back to the studio or receive your digital images online. You’ll have the option to purchase prints, albums, or canvas options – whatever suits your needs best.
7. Enjoying Your Family Memories
Once you’ve received your final images, it’s time to enjoy them! Whether you choose to hang them on your walls, create a family album, or share them with friends and family, we want these photographs to bring joy to your home for many years to come.
At The Greenwich Studio, we’re passionate about creating family memories that you can treasure forever. We aim to make the entire photoshoot process enjoyable and stress-free, ensuring that you leave with images you’ll love and cherish. If you’re ready to book your family photoshoot, we’d love to hear from you!
